After Tiger Woods won the U.S. Open in Augusta, Georgia last month, many news sources reported that he bought a vacation home in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Tiger and his family are on vacation, right? Wrong. According to a source close to Tiger Woods, the world number three golfer is staying in a condo in Hilton Head, South Carolina with his family. It appears that Tiger is using his newfound media exposure to leverage the sale of this vacation home into business.
Does this ring a bell? Well, consider how Tiger and his family used their time off from playing golf after winning the US Open. Tiger was spotted at the Delta Golf & Country Club in Augusta playing with his new friend Aaron Baddeley. It was a nice break for him from all of the press attention that followed his winning of the tournament.
Then it was off to Disney World and Las Vegas. Tiger seemed to be hanging out with some buddies in Las Vegas. It’s not clear what they were doing there, but it was a fun getaway. However, does this mean that he will be keeping his current residence in Connecticut? Apparently not.
Is Tiger Woods buying a vacation home in Hilton Head to use as a second home or to visit when he is not playing? I would say that is very unlikely. First, he has no need for such properties and most of them are very costly. Second, even if he did purchase a property in Hilton Head, South Carolina, would it be a place he could call his own?
The reason I say this is that most of the real estate around this area is highly expensive and out of range for most average people to afford. Also, many of the homes are overpriced due to the low supply. As you know, the supply is lower than the demand. Therefore, prices will always be higher than what they should be.
Can someone afford to live in a vacation home in Hilton Head, South Carolina? I don’t think so. But, if he does buy a vacation home in Hilton Head, then maybe he could rent it out during the year to someone who could use a place to rent. Then he would make a profit, if not more than he would by selling all his other properties.
Tiger Woods does seem to enjoy having a place to call his own, does he not? I doubt that he is going to rent out his Hilton Head vacation home to a tenant. Besides, Tiger Woods has the money to pay for it, so why would he want to do that? Besides, he can always rent it out to someone who can afford to buy it.
The one time I heard him talk about his vacation home in Florida, he mentioned that it was not for rent, but rather to be used by his kids for college. If Tiger Woods is that rich, then he can afford to buy any property that he wants. So, if you are asking the question can Tiger Woods afford to live in a vacation home, the answer may be, absolutely. So, go out and buy a vacation home today, you may be surprised at what you find.
While Tiger Woods is probably best known for playing golf on the weekends, he does have some other properties that are up for grabs. Consider, his new 5 bedroom luxury villa in Spain Hills Florida, is on the market for a cool eight hundred thousand dollars. That’s right, for the same price as a single family home in Bermuda!
You don’t see many celebrities that have that much money saved up for their vacation homes, do you? And the best thing is, he doesn’t have to use it for vacationing. He lives in Florida most of the year and prefers to use his Spanish villa for that. He also does rent out his other properties, but they come to him when he needs to. He told me once that he doesn’t entertain the media very often because the paparazzi are not really that welcome there. He made it clear that he doesn’t like them and when they follow him around, it can be dangerous.
We are not suggesting that you start by buying a vacation home in Miami, Jupiter, or Myrtle Beach. It just wouldn’t be right. Instead, we want to encourage you to explore some of Tiger Woods’s other properties. They are all gorgeous and if you enjoy golf, you will love them. Plus, they will help you save money on the same properties Tiger Woods has.
